North Golf Course at Big Cypress Golf & Country Club
About
Big Cypress Golf Club is home to two golf courses, the championship South Course and the executive North Course. Located in Lakeland, Big Cypress is situated between Orlando and Tampa. The courses are part of a gated retirement community called Cypress Lakes. The North is less challenging and offers a gentler version of the South that is more approachable to beginners. It is a fairly narrow layout that features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed sand bunkers. Water also has a strong presence on the course, coming into play on a total of 12 holes. The layout is player-friendly and offers several risk-reward opportunities. It is a great for beginners and more advanced players will enjoy it for a quick round or a warm-up for the South Course. In addition to the two golf courses, there is also a driving range and putting green.

Booking
I booked the South course but they didn't have any openings. I would like a refund for my $3.00.
Great shape
Really good shape tons of gators out too. Greens rolled very good and fairways are near perfect. Check in was a breeze. Course was fairly busy, nice to see such a great executive course getting some play. Try this one.
Grand Cypress North course
Grand Cypress has 2 courses - a north and a south course. We played the North course which is an executive style course with mostly Par 3’s and no par 5’s. It is 18! Holes and still gives you a reasonably challenging experience. The greens were in good shape as were the fairways. One thing to note is is that it is a little it of a cart drive through the neighborhood to get to the first tee, and could use more signage to get there and back again as well as getting to the next hole in a few situations.
Great Short Course
great short course I take my wife to the short courses in the area because she is just started playing golf and doesnt hit the ball to far She really llikes this course
Accuracy
Short but you need to be accurate. Greens in good condition although a little slower than average.
Buds rebiew
Nice executive 18 to work on your short game. Course in good shape. Greens excellent. Fun experience
Great executive course
In great shape tee to green. Lots of nature to look at. Love this place.
Fun course
Second time on this course. Enjoyed both times. Short course with good challenges. Will look forward to playing it again when I am in the area next month.
It’s OK… l guess…
It’s ok. All bermuda except for the greens. They were zoysia, and sloooow with little break. All the greens were round/oval. Nothing special. The rough was so dense it wasn’t penal. The ball just sat up. It’s can be quirky. Going from 2 to 3 you drive straight into 13. Three of the holes (as par 3’s) are blind - 5, 15 & 17. The ranger was a little rude. He approached me on a hole where he thought l was too close. I informed him l have a heart condition. He said well then next time get a handicap flag. I said I’d rather be approached. It was just the way he went about it and his tone. All in all, would l drive 30-40 minutes to play it again - no. If l had my clubs in my trunk and l just happened to be in the area and wanted a quick round - sure. But there’s just nothing inspiring about the track.
Customer Service
Not sure if it's because of the age 55 and up or because of my age and how I look. Anyways customer service here was about as miserable and non existent as the powwow running the pro shop. I've played her before with no issues. First time I played I paid for myself and my baby and wife were able to ride along. This time around I paid for 2 golfers thinking we could each get a cart [That's what would of happened if we paid separately] so that my wife and baby could ride with me. Then my brother would have his own cart. We'll I paid 50 for both of us. When I walked in first of it was more like a morgue. Not 1 proper polite getting was made, not hi welcome or how can I help. Just a "your late" by 8 mins. Big deal, no one plays the North course, especially in midday at 90 degrees. Long story short iv ended up having to pay another 25 dollars just to get a 2nd cart so my baby and wife could ride with me. Your lack of customer service and sense of entitlement was distasteful. Your old, but you don't have to act like your dead inside have some manners and compassion next time. Trying to teach my brother the game of golf while teaching my 6 month old as well.
I was disappointed in myself not the course I would have preferred to played a full-length course not a par 3 course
Wet conditions
If it has rained, do not go. The driving range was closed and the course was very wet. Even though it hasnt rained in 2 days, it was very soggy and wet.
Been a while
We haven’t played here in over a year obviously with everything going on in the world. New greens are very nice, rolled well, a smidge on the slow side but absolutely fine and held perfectly. Just about everything was in perfect shape. The service here has always been very good, today the same very good. Not real busy on the north course, great place to take your time and work on your wedges and short game. Lots of nature to distract you as well. Go play!
