Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club
About
The Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club, centrally located on McMullen Booth Road a comparably short course, offering just 5,454 yards from the blue tees and a slope rating of 118. Most of the fairways are wide, making errant shots still playable. In essence, it is the ideal place to work on your golf game, to correct that nasty slice or learn to hit that oversized driver without fear of losing 100 balls. As a result, it is a favorite among novice golfers who want to be challenged but also have an enjoyable round.

Great place to play without the hassle
Because the course was created to facilitate junior golf development, as far as I can tell (call and ask) does not serve alcohol. Which makes it less crowded for afternoon golf- awesome. The layout is tight but fairly easy, more fakish right with illusion. Greens are slowish but truish. So it is a fun place to challenge your driver skills, and if you are right that day you will score. Made my most recent eagle around Christmas holing out on shortish par four....120 yard roll in.
Great day!
Weather, course and the people I played with were awesome!
Love this course!
I always enjoy this course.
Everyone is friendly.
The course is in great condition.
And pace of play is always good.
5 stars! 🌟
Decent course, bad employee
This is probably my 7th time playing at this course. Had no problems my first few times other than pace of play. Course condition is not bad for the price. But this time and the last time, the pro shop worker had an attitude and came up to us before closing time telling us that the carts needed to be in. Same gentleman both times. Closing time is advertised as 6:30pm. He came up to me with an attitude and claimed I played more holes than I should have and that the carts had to be in at 6:05. The last time I played, I was told the carts had to be in at 6:20. Never experienced a course where an employee wants you out before closing time. I understand I was playing towards closing time, but I have played numerous courses nearby that have no problem if you play until dark. Just a miserable employee all I can say.
Snowbird golf
I enjoyed everything about the course. I only get here in February to play, and found the course to be in great shape. The staff that I interacted with were very helpful and friendly. Absolutely recommend this course.
Excellently designed keeps us coming back!
The course design is the best around! It's not long by today's standards; it's a technical course. Our first time back since 2022 shows better conditions. While some traps have nice sand, others are like hitting out of powder mixed with dirt. Tight fairway lies are standard here now-a-day's. The price reflects all this. Due to Chi Chi's challenging course design we consider it a bargain.
Slow pace
Good layout but slow play. Waited 40 minutes at a par 3 which really affected our pace and play.
Guy at pro shop really bad attitude. No starters so it was a bit of a hassle since a lot of players were there. Singles, doubles, foursomes, nobody was pairing up.
Good value but definitely overated by GP reviewers
This was the first course that I played in the Tampa area (and this season) since it's been way too cold up in Michigan. I thought this would be a good way to break in my golf trip.
The course layout was fine and somewhat challenging. My biggest issue was the condition of the fairways. Too many shredded leaves and pine needles throughout the front nine. The tee boxes and greens looked as if they had a whole season without any maintenance.
Most of the courses I play in Michigan, even my local Muni (at a lower price point) is in better shape at the end of the season.
I guess all of the locals gave it a rating over 90%.
I played another course in the area today (2.9.24) and it was in much better condition overall.
The back nine was much better though. Played more difficult.
Slow day on the course
Not a long course and a few holes where the pace was very slow. Conditions were ok for this time of year, greens were rolling very well. 4 1/2 hours to play this course is too long.
Normal Chi Chi round
Typical Sat play. Friendly staff, starter. Player etiquette poor as you find on most courses these days, part of "growing the game". e.g. carts parked in front of greens, loud music, footprints in bunkers, scuffs & ball marks on greens, and errant shots with no "fore" warning. Approx 4.5 hr round. Will definitely play again.
